Your dreams are all about you. The people in your dreams represent a part of yourself that the dream is trying to get you to recognize. You can make the connection to the people in your dreams to yourself by looking at what emotional connection this person has to you or what this person’s position in life represents to you. For example, a father supports the family and therefore represents the stabile, secure part of you. The parts of you being referred to in the dream are distinguished through the people and what they represent to you.

DEAR DREAM RETRIEVER: Actor Matthew McConaughey asked me to be his best man. I ended up cutting into the three-tier wedding cake before the reception. I lied about it but it was all caught on camera. The bride was crying because I ruined the wedding. Her father ended up punching me in the face and then I woke up.

DEAR DREAMER: Matthew McConaughey represents the public figure part of you or your job position. The dream is about you accepting how much this part of you means to you, even though you would not only like to deny it. However, you don’t want anyone else to know either, even though it is obvious to those around you.

Cutting the cake which indicates your going out on your own or separation from the current situation you are in. The bride is crying and says you ruined the wedding. This indicates the part of you that is ready for a brand new start (denoted by the bride who is sad) and feels there is little or no chance this will happen and what you have planned feels ruined.

The father of the bride is the part of you that represents the nurturing, stable and secure part of you. When someone punches you it is because they are angry and disagree with you and feel you need a wakeup call, like a punch in the face.

The father punches you because you hurt the bride, the part of him that was hoping and ready for a new start. This denotes resentment and anger within you toward the part of you that is sabotaging the new start you want as well as the part of you denying what you have is so important to you.
